Just stumbled across this French website offering unlocked 8GB iPhones for 599 Euros (approximately £420 on my calculation).

They promise free shipping within 15 days, but sensibly they admit that they cannot guarantee that the phone will remain unlocked if you accept any future updates:

Seems a bit steep to me considering you can buy a brand new one for $399 and then unlock it yourself for $50!

True, but you've got to get it from the U.S.A (with all the hassle and taxes that involves), not to mention any possible activation problems.

Anyway, it looks like we won't have to wait too long for the U.K. version which may just have 3G and a 16GB memory. (Wishful thinking?)
