Unlocked iPhone on launch?

I going to playing it safe and waiting for the an unlocked model numbers to be release before I buy it! I can wait 120 days or a little longer just to make sure I can have an unlock "model". Otherwise; you might have trouble with the status!

Full price from apple is unlocked on launch day. I bought 3 last year.

I'm just going to hope that either I can get an unlocked phone from Apple for use with T-Mobile, or get the phone from T-Mobile.

With Verizon, even if it is unlocked, would I still have to pay anything either up-front or monthly to Verizon if I switched to T-Mobile?

Assuming that TMO will still pay your ETFs (it's a promo they have been doing a while)...

You can pay the $200 out of pocket at VZW and sign up for the cheapest monthly plan. The phone will immediately be usable by TMO. Pay one month of the VZW plan (they require this before you can terminate contract). Terminate contract (TMO may need to port that number... check with TMO or ask here about that). TMO should cut you a check if you trade in a smartphone (any cheapie smartphone will work).

This is probably what I will be doing. Although I plan to order it online to pick up at the store. Either way, I'm paying full price for the iPhone 6.

For launch day they haven't allowed this for a couple years now.
