Will an unlocked iphone work with sim card from a blackberry. I have a bb with an unlimited data plan and am curious if i can just switch the sim card out. Or do I HAVE to get an iphone data plan. I am currently an att customer, but can't get rid of my bb due to work, and was thinking i could just swap out the sim card on the weekends for iphone use and just the iphone as an ipod during the week.

    thanks

doesnt need to be an unlocked iphone, as long as it was originally sold by att

so....if i obtain an iphone originally offered by att, i could insert my sim card from my bb and the iphone will work...as a phone, internet, texting etc.???

I was under the impression that the iphone will only work with it's accompanying data plan. I am trying to avoid paying for 2 data plans, one for bb and one for iphone.

From what I've read in the past, you'll be just fine except you won't get Visual Voicemail with the Blackberry plan.

Thanks for replies, but if I may, a couple more questions.

    1. I'm not sure what Visual Voicemail is and don't know if I could live without it.

    2. Some where along the way, I thought I read that att would be able to pick up on the fact that I was using an iphone on a bb data plan. does anyone know if that is case.

    3. assuming I can work this out, what suggestions does anyone have in acquiring an iphone that was originally offered by att?

    thanks

They can tell, but then you just switch back to your blackberry. Which are you going to be using more often?

As far as visual voicemail, it's where you can touch the people who called you and listen to the voicemails that way. You'll just do voicemail like everyone on every other phone and have to call in. :D

    1. VVM is basically not needing to dial into your voicemail to retrieve it. It shows up on the phone with the number/contact and you can play and delete the voicemail without dialing numbers

    2. Att can detect that an iPhone is being used on their network. They can alert you via text or by email that you are the incorrect plan and they have the right to add/remove the appropriate features (nothing has ever happened to me though)

    3. You can purchase them several places. eBay, craigslist, other online resellers.

If you want an iPhone that att cannot detect as being an iPhone, then look for a foreign iPhone that can be unlocked, or even better would be a factory unlocked iPhone (but this will cost a lot more $$)
