I just called customer service, was nice and all, and got it unlocked.
Confirmed by punching in the IMEI to dev.mk. Will restore in a few days when I have my hands on the device in three days (it's my dad's).
Also seeing if I can get those two $36 upgrade fees waived for two lines upgraded with iPhone 5 preorders.
Between this, 5GB LTE+throttle for $30/unlimited grandfathered and being able to keep it while getting a subsidy, $250 credit for doing an "early upgrade" on primary line ($199+250 for 16GB with a new 2 year), unlocking a 4S I bought off Craigslist in January that I swear was still on contract by my gut, I don't see how people can absolutely hate AT&T.
Verizon would have done none to little of this for me. Ocassionally, I get an unknowledgable rep who tells me to "punch in the unlock case code" to my phone and it will be unlocked :/ But that's just luck of the draw. In general, they're great and knowledgable.
