I want to switch over to Verizon. What is the best software to get
to unlock my new 3G phone. Is this really something a non tech person can do? How do I get my sim card changed?

Thanks for any input:rolleyes:

lol there is lotsa info around

Jailbreak

Install yellowsn0w

change the sim with a paperclip

Is what you need to do google round to find out how to do each step

All that is pointless if his goal is to switch the phone to Verizon, just completely different network types.

The iPhone hardware will not work with Verizon.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Verizon network does not use sim cards in their phones. Some phones accept them, but they don't use them.

The iPhone is GSM - therefore it needs a sim card to work.

You could use T-Mobile and other GSM networks.

AT&T and T-Mobile are GSM. Verizon and Sorint are CDMA, GSM takes SIMs, CDMA does not. No software in the world can put a GSM phone onto a CDMA network. Sorry dude, Verizon ain't gonna work. WHy would you want verizon anyways?

But the Blackberry Storm has a SIM card.... Care to explain?

Is it a world phone? Most countries out of the U.S. are almost 100% GSM/WCDMA(3g for GSM) so if you made a phone that people wanted to travel with it would be necessary to put in the hardware for those networks. In theory the SIM wouldn't be necessary but I'm guessing that the removable SIM is part of the specification for GSM/WCDMA and while a phone could work without it, it could not claim spec compliant.

Sadly but true. On another forum I frequent often, people get bashed immediately for not searching. Maybe we are a little to soft here. For a topic like that, you don't even have to search "our site." Simply search iPhone on verizon and you'll get tons of garbage about how it's impossible. That is the reason why I have an old razor sitting by my bed that is still activated with verizon.

To the OP, don't get discouraged or take it to heart about people flaming you about a simple question. Next time, just click that search button and you will have a wealth of knowledge before you.
