I am in Canada locked to Bell. Can I unlock this phone...I don't want to jailbreak it
Bell should unlock the phone for $50 once the contract is finished.
Do I have to wait until my contract ends?? Can I not just to a third party vendor to get it done? Ive spoken to Bell and they tell me they don't do it.
Yes, what's the point of unlocking since you're in a contract? You can buy your way out of the contract or sell the phone with the remaining contract and buy an unlocked iPhone 4S from Apple.

I am travelling for new years and want to avoid all of the roaming charges. It doesn't make sense that you can get it done but NOT from Bell.
Make sure you turn off your 3G or you'll get a nasty bill from Bell when you get back.
Your best bet might be just leaving your phone here and get a pay as you go phone when you travel. OR take an iPad 3G (they're all unlocked) and use AcroBits and a headset for a makeshift phone (this is what I do).
Bell doesn't want you to avoid the roaming charges.
