Hi. I have just upgraded from an iphone 5c on O2 to a 6s on EE.

I reset the 5c to factory setting and removed the sim card before selling it on ebay as locked to O2.

The buyer has now emailed me (very politely) to say that when they tried to get it unlocked they were told it is locked with my apple ID password.

Is this just a scam to get my password (which I obviously have no intention in telling them) or a real issue with unlocking an iphone?

Thanks.

So it's activation locked. Before you sold it, did you turn off find my iphone and sign out of icloud? If not, then it's activation locked. And they have a brick.

You could be nice, and unlock the iPhone now for the buyer (something that the buyer COULD have checked at purchase - or, even better, something that YOU should have taken care of before you sold it.)
