it's always been a little wonky
have you turning it off and back on again? (in the settings app on your Mac)
sometimes that clears it up.
Yeah, I rebooted my Mac and Watch and it cleared it up.
I had this issue once before, a few months ago, and can't recall what the definitive step to fixing it was. The one thing I can offer that you didn't mention is signing out of and then back into your AppleID account, possibly on both devices (although you can try it one at a time).Mine has stopped working altogether as well after updating to Mac OS 10.14.4 and WatchOS 5.2. I have rebooted both devices several times now, reset wifi and bluetooth, and tried unpairing and repairing but nothing is working.
