I like thousands of people want to unlock my new 3G iPhone. Everyone is concerned about having to activate it at the point of purchase.

When the original phone came out we all spent 5-600 bucks. So what is the difference with buying the phone, activating it and then canceling and paying the ETF. The price is going to be the same, but we have the phone willing and ready for someone to unlock it.

With this user that is going to be the case of what is going to happen on July 11th.

Has anyone had the same thought??

I dunno. . .how much longer are Apple and AT&T in 'contract mode'. I think it was a 5 year contract from the initial launch.

I just hope that after this contract is over that Apple will be smart about it.

Then again this will increase iPod Touch sales, no?

Don't forget that if you cancel within 30 days you have to send the iPhone back. So you need the iPhone for at least a month, and you'll be paying for a month of service.

Either you wait a 30 day lead time for this to work in the USA...or you get a "water good" from a different country in Europe which allows no contract type of purchase for the 3G iphone.

I bet there will be alot of iphone's coming into the USA from europe or another country.
