    Hello,

ok, so this is what i want to do...

I live in the republic of ireland and i want to travel to northern ireland to buy a prepaid iphone, I then want to unlock it for 15£ and bring it back to the republic and use it unlocked for my personal and business calls, which i switch between Vodafone and 02. The only problem that i can see when doing this is the time you have to wait for the phone to be unlocked, and then you recieve the text confirming the unlock.

My question is, if i go up north and unlock the phone in the space of one day, and then come home, will I recieve the text?

I posted the question on an 02 forum with no help whatsoever.

    Regards,
    eftrix.

If you do it officially through O2 it takes 2 weeks to unlock. And you lose your wifi bolt on.

O2 in the UK offer free access to BT Openzone hot spots. They rescind this if your unlock you iPhone. But to most people this is no great loss.

expect roaming charges unless you turn roaming off but I think with you going to be in ireland you may need the roaming on?

but saying all that you should be able to get it on O2 irl and not have to go to northen ireland surely?

They don't have to wait a year. They just lose their free wi-fi bolt on if it's unlocked within the first year.
