Unlocking wifi?

Got my Ipad and love it! I am running in 3g, but want to be able to go on my wifi so I can download movies, or whatever. My connection comes up but there is a 'lock' symbol in the corner that is closed, and I cannot access it. How do I unlock my wifi?

the lock symbol means the rotation lock is on. Wifi is under settings.

Rotation switch is above the volume rocker.

Are you asking about the lock showing that the wifi is password protected?

yes, thre is a lock and my password won't work. And now my screen is frozen! It will come on, I slide to unlock, it rotates fine, but I cannot swipe it left or right, and none of the apps showing, including safari, etc., will do anything?Whats that about?
