I'm daily visitor of macrumors.com, focussing on unlocking the iPhone threads. I'm from the Netherlands and dying to use the iPhone with my own SIM card (vodafone network). As I've been reading multiple ways and guides how to unlock the iPhone, I still really really would like to know your experiences (and methods) on how to unlock the iPhone. I mean it should be no problem getting one over, though the second step unlocking still troubles me.

I guess what I'm trying to say, does anyone have some advice? Grazie!

I did the modmyiphone routine on iMac (though I had a PC laptop ready for use, too.) I compared that with the method on the Norway site, and the Apple version seemed easier.

I would d/l ALL programs you need FIRST. Have it all at your fingertips.

Then, read each page thoroughly, read it again, then do it.

Cake.

Took me 1 1/2 hours.

I used this: http://modmyiphone.com/wiki/index.php/IPhone_unlock_OS_X_Part_1

I've done it with two iphones. The first went without a hitch because I followed the instructions. The second one I tried using the latest AnySim at the end instead of the iunlock and thought I had ruined the phone because I couldn't get past the apple screen, nor would itunes recognise it. However, I managed to use recovery mode to restore and started over again, using iunlock. Went without a hitch. So: my fault that I had trouble. Just follow the instructions and it'll be fine.

The second time I did it (after restoring), it took about 45 minutes. It's really quite straight-forward.
