Im about to enable match but wondered if there are any solutions to this.

90% of my library is in ALAC lossless format and anything that doesn't match is easily 40-50mb per song which will take ages to upload.

Can anyone think of a solution to this apart from waiting. Perhaps create a aac version of the library?

Match doesn't upload ALAC but converts to AAC for the upload.

Yes, that's right. iTunes creates an AAC 256 version of your lossless files before uploading to the cloud. There's no need for you to manually create an AAC version.

Awesome thanks

I assume it doesn't overwrite the ALAC, it just does this for the purpose of upload and then deletes?

Yes, exactly. The AAC 256 is uploaded to the cloud and the lossless file remains on your hard drive (as long as you don't delete it).
