The LED Flashlight is significantly brighter. Perhaps 10 x brighter than the LCD display set to all-white.

Flashlight 4™ for the iPhone 4. Finally a REAL flashlight for the iPhone.

I believe we were actually first with this idea on the iPhone 4. Already submitted to the App store last week, waiting on Apple for approval. We started on Jun 19th, tested for a couple days after the iPhone 4 launch, perfected multitasking related issues and submitted to the App Store for Approval.

There's going to be quite a few on the store soon, to be honest. I submitted an LED flashlight a few days ago too...

...and even more after this discussion. :)

Hopefully we'll all benefit. I just don't think an ad-supported model makes sense for this product. Last thing you want in the dark is a very bright animated ad shining in your eyes.

I'd buy THAT for a dollar!

Running iMovie on 3GS won't mean much until you try exporting the movie.

I want to see how long that takes

Especially since I can't even export with the iPhone 4. I spent an hour making a 5 minute video clip, just to have it fail on export no matter what size I choose. Apparently it's not just me as the app reviews in iTunes are riddled with people unable to export. Has anyone else had issues? I didn't spend 5 bucks on an app that can only export short 30 second videos. I'm not expecting to export a freaking feature length film, but it should handle a 5 minute clip!!!!

I've been looking for an LED flashlight app since the iPhone 4 came out. I wonder what's taking so long. First app approved gets my hard earned 99 pennies.

Anyone know if iMovie for iPhone installs on the iPad as well? Seems like it could work really well on that device (for editing; obviously there's no camera yet).

My 3G can barely send a text message with iOS4. No way can it run iMovie!

That was EXACTLY what I thought when I read the article lol ;)

This also made me LOL
"The developer, however, is planning on submitting it to the App Store."
he'd better hurry up as there will be 50 othe devs reading this and putting their apps in tomorrow ;)

I feel a cheated on seeing I was first to hack iMovie for 3GS, but I guess that's the way the world works: https://forums.macrumors.com/wap/GetThread.php?f=105&t=952370&bat=

looks pretty good too. i love my phone (even though its seriously dropping calls unless i hold it like its got the antidote or something), but a FREAKING FLASHLIGHT???? ARE YOU KDDING??? MOST USEFUL THING EVER.

i'll facetime someone every now and then and itll be awesome, but a one-touch flashlight on me at all times... thats just gods answer to all my problems... er... rather just a nice feature, one that id appreciate.

going into the camera app is a pain in the ass. when i need a flashlight its cause im too lazy to walk cautiously in the dark. at those times, im also too lazy to open the camera app and like navigate with my fingers to the video slider if its not already in video mode, then the flash... this app would be wonderful.

i paid .99 for a koi pond that does nothing, and i have a real fish so theres no excuse. i also got an extra espresso shot in my coffee this morning (in case you couldnt tell) for .50, so... yeah id pay the .99 to make this happen. im just surprised apple hasnt approved any yet. they need to get on that ***** so i can start creeping again.

Pay to play pal. This is America. Buy something.

You'd rather have advertisements than spend a buck? That's nuts.

Now I know who buys white iPhones.

You assume that I don't purchase anything. What I'm saying is that having something that does almost nothing isn't worth paying for. Advertisments wouldn't be a bad idea on this sort of app. And I'm not telling you what to spend your money on, so do what you want, but I'm not someone who goes on a spending rampage in the App store/iTunes store because everything I like is *only* 99 cents. If I think it's worth it, then of course I'll have no problem paying whatever it costs.

Anyone know if iMovie for iPhone installs on the iPad as well? Seems like it could work really well on that device (for editing; obviously there's no camera yet).

So you would record your movie with your iPhone/Camera, upload the movie to your computer, and then upload it back into an iPad for editing? I don't see it being very useful on the iPad until it has a camera, But then I'd think it be very awkward to use for recording films with.

iMovie will not work on iPad until iOS 4 is available for it. This is because iMovie checks for frameworks that iOS 3.2 does not have. Makes sense, right? ;)

The findings are interesting in that we had speculated that iMovie might have required the higher RAM and faster processor of the iPhone 4.

 Oh yea because your ability to speculate with any degree of intelligence or accuracy is so spot on..

Ours is priced at $.99 and is named Flashlight 4™ - (Waiting on App Store Approval).

You know whats funny, there will be a free flashlight app in the app store in no time flat. I could create one in 30 minutes. I mean heck, who hasn't said "I wish this had an LED I could use as a flashlight"? That idea is not original at all, and there won't be much money to be made by these devs as it will either:
  • Not get approved
  • Get overrun by a dev like me who creates this in 30 minutes and offers it for free
