Most Days: Preview, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Maple.
3. DesktopManager (3 screens), MenuMeters (network and CPU), Bluetooth, AirPort, Sound, DisplayPreferences, Time, Battery, Spotlight.

5. Short videos and compressed DVDs in iTunes, larger videos sit in the Movies folder.
6. Mostly list (sort by kind or date), except for smaller ones or those with lots of pics, then folder with preview for all images.
7. PathFinder sidebar has several document folders plus all the main ones.
8. Todays documents (things to be emailed, edited a lot), plus a backup folder, and a SmartFolder with the past 7 days' modified files. USB flash drives and my FW backup drives at home sit there sometimes.
