My 4S is starting to have issues with the home button, it does work but often takes a couple of presses for it to register or a harder press for that matter. I have blown it out with compressed air and this does for a while but it soon goes back to being unresponsive. Same with a reboot, it fixes it temporarily. Maybe its just me but this problems only started with iOS 6.

Has anyone else had these issues or do you have a solution I haven't tried?

A few people have had this problem, and I don't know whether is is a hardware or software issue. You could perhaps take it to an apple store to see what they say about it, and whether they would repair it for you. In the mean time you can enable assistive touch: Settings>General>Accessibility>AssistiveTouch>"Switch Toggle"
