My iPhone X started acting weird when I tried to open a notification from Telegram with 3D touch. Then the screen became completely unresponsive.

I tried force restarting and then going into recovery mode and reinstalling iOS 12.0 (16A366) instead of restoring the phone. It didn't work.

I haven't tried a complete restore yet because I have some photos from yesterday that I couldn't backup.

This problem was there when I unboxed the phone as well but updating to the latest version of iOS 11 in late November 2017 fixed it.

Has anyone had this issue with iOS 12?

Talked to Apple and they told me to get the phone inspected. I couldn't take it yet.

However, the touch started responding again. Everything worked except for 3D Touch and Tap to Wake - even the settings were missing under Accessibility.

There were no problems found after running Apple's diagnostics. They said the multi-touch display is not assessed in it.

I tried another restore and now everything is working normally again.

Does anyone know how the inspection is done in store? Do they open up the device to check for hardware errors?
