After a few days of stupendous RAM usage, thousands of Console errors and a random shutdown, OS X is now completely unresponsive.

However, after creating a new user account the other day, I've noticed it's running beautifully despite whats going on over at my main, now unusable, account. Yesterday, I had over 50 Safari Tabs, PS, Mail, Calendar, Spotify and even Garageband for good measure, all running on the new test account for hours - and I had almost 2GB of completely free memory left.

I would've been down to double-digit MBs on the main account. The last time I used it, I was down to 8MB (Yes, 8) with 1 tab and iTunes.

The console errors included Calendar/Contacts AOSKit errors, a few Kernel related ones and even quite a few related to the Twitter App(?).

    BTW, it's a 2012, 27" base model.

How much RAM, what processor, what GPU, what motherboard.
    Is it all stock?

I guess you have TimeMachine running, if not something is eating your space, most probably page outs, if that's the case you have a huge memory leak.

Now, try this, go to login screen login into your normal account BUT right after you hit the enter key hold the shift key, now, is this better, if so we try to figure out what is wrong here, can be solved.

That disables log in items, right? Much nicer, it's responsive, but still eating through GBs of memory within minutes. (And the Dock is missing?). Same console errors, also.

Oh, I'm not using Time Machine.

Yes it disables login Items, open Activity monitor, select ALL processes on top, the Memory Tab in the lower part and the %CPU on the main body to show the most active processes, then make a screenshot, Command-Shift-4 then hit SpaceBar and click on window, post screenshot here pleas.

Nothing out of the ordinary here, test is the other user I guess, that's the reason you have 4.3 GB used memory which is fairly high upon login.

Is it slow now with the above results?

Not slow now, but it's only a matter of time....The console is still going mad.

Still not sure why this happens? Taken yesterday about an hour after startup, only that account open. Had to take with a phone, screenshot wouldn't work....

You have enough INACTIVE RAM to be used for those processes though. Have you run all the latest updates?

    Everything's up to date.

But down to 8MB seems extreme, even with that much inactive.

It is not extreme, I have seen the same with 32 GB of RAM. Inactive RAM is also "free" RAM, but reserved for recently opened applications and documents in case they want to come back. Once there is no free RAM anymore and more RAM is needed and there is enough Inactive RAM, the Inactive RAM will be used to become Active RAM.

why not post some of the console log to see what's happening? You said it is running like mad. It could be you tried to uninstall something but didn't do it correctly and the system is trying to start up something you removed.

I managed to get rid of the AOSKit by simply deleting Yahoo for now :)

And in regards to the RAM; I understand Inactive RAM, but when the OS is working, it will drop from 1GB to 5 or 10MB free instantaneously - which makes it freeze completely, needing a restart.
