Don't forget the fine print:

"The playback of 4K HEVC content requires a Mac with a sixth‑generation Intel Core processor or newer."

Apparently only the brand new iMac supports VR (whenever it actually materializes in the real world) out of the box. Everything else requires an external gpu (thunderbolt 2 or 3?) and nothing that I can find about which machines will support what features of metal 2.
