Here's the latest 3rd Beta version of redsn0w which does untethered jailbreak of iOS 4.2.1. A guide on how to do the jailbreak is also hyperlinked in the same article.

If you find it confusing then you can always visit: iPhone-dev blog

But you should remove all important data on your i-device before jailbreaking it with these versions, as they are in Beta test mode, so they might encounter some bugs and crashes.

Yes this one is applicable for Mac OS X.

They will soon be releasing the Windows version, will let you and other users know, when they will launch it, k!

This version apparently requires that you have the iOS 4.2b3 ipsw file, which was only released to developers.
