Why Apple weather why ?

Why not make it easier to read as I always read it the wrong way when it first appears and Hello Weather has a much better way of presenting it -

I really like the Watch weather display. It did take me a little to get familiarized with it, but once done I’d hate to be without it.

The first one give you a lot of temperature information over time, with hour-by-hour precision. Time inner ring, temperature outer ring, in an easy-to-read format that still fits the Apple Watch face -- and giving this information for half a day.

Also, if you tap on that ring, it next gives you sunrise/sunset, another tap, rain percentage -- again in half-day aggregations, with hour-by-hour precision.

I think it's fabulous. I cannot think of a better way to do it, providing all this info in twelve-hour chunks that's instantly readable and digestable on a small screen, and giving you precision right down to the hour. Can you think of a better way? It's my favorite clickthrough on the watchface weather complication.

Doesn't show sunrise/sunset. It shows weather conditions.

And I never got confused about which numbers were the temperature and which were the time, I think because when I first got the watch, the temperature was in the 20s and the 30s. This is only confusing when the temperature is between 1-24. Right now it's not confusing because the temp is in the negative. ;D

Irrelevant comment:

I can’t see the attached pictures, anyone know why maybe?
But even without seeing them, I agree, I really dislike the new weather app, from the UI to the set-in-stone data provider for my region. But the UI is, IMO, so unappealing and the way certain values are presented (and others are not and you can’t even change what’s shown) is just meh, I don’t even use it anymore.
I use the Windy widget exclusively for “condition forecasting”. It’s simple, visual, relevant and accurate. I highly recommend the app anyway.

Edit: I get a feeling you’re talking about the Watch app(?).
Another thing I dislike is that you can’t delete irrelevant comments on MR… ?

You can if you pony up the dough lol.

Back on topic. I don’t find the UI on the Watch app terrible but the second screen shot you posted from the third party app does look more user friendly.

But it's a temperature display, not a clock.
But it's a watch.

I mean, you do have a point - but I don't think it's unreasonable to think a circular display like that, on a watch, would be read like a clock.

That said, I use Carrot because I think it's much easier to use.

Me? I didn’t upload anything, you must mean OP.
Don’t confirm to me that MR is a sellout ?✌?

I like it, as it’s am easy way to display a lot of information and to intuitively connect temperature to time. But it can give pause as to which ring is which, especially when the temp numbers are close to the time numbers. Maybe Apple could add a small degree symbol next to each of the temperature numbers.

But it comes up when you open the weather app. Why would you open the weather app and then think it was a clock? Do you open the timer and then get confused by the numbers there too?

As Apple nailed the Timer interface no I dont get confused by the lack of numbers on the TIMER

that look EXACTLY like clock numbers on the weather interface.......

Never seen those sort of messy double numbers anywhere else and especially not on a watch display where everything should be instantly readable but hey first world problems in a COVID world.....

But, but the timer app says it's 14:56! I'm sooo confused. How am I supposed to know that's not the time?

You've made your point quite clearly - I don't think anyone would be confused by the timer face.

Now that I've given it a little thought, I'd say the problem is that the Apple Watch was designed in America. Meaning, designed by people who generally use Fahrenheit rather than Celsius together with AM/PM rather than 24-hour time.

In the screenshot you posted, the temperature range from "09" to "13" was "9" to "12" ... gee, that's not confusing at all. ? Identical numbers, presented adjacent to each other, both increasing incrementally. How could that possibly be confusing? lol ... In California though, the same weather would display in a way that is instantly understandable: the outer ring would start at 48° (clearly not a time of day) and increase to 57°, in that same time frame.

So the problem seems to be that Apple's engineers don't actually use 24h display on their devices, along with Celsius. If you're using Fahrenheit and AM/PM clocks, you'd never notice anything wrong with the UI. Of course, Apple could remedy this in about five minutes by adding a ° mark to each of the numbers along the outer row, but again, if the engineers are based in America, it's probably never even occurred to them that this could be an issue (otherwise it would have been fixed years ago).
