I just purchased a new Late 2013 Macbook Pro 15" Retina machine. I've been using macs for years and years... and have never seen this...

When I shutdown or restart the Macbook Pro, not every time but at least half of the time, the machine does not switch to a grey screen just before powering off... It stays on the current desktop screen and kind of mutes all the colors, almost like inverting the colors very subtly, and then powers off (never switching over to a grey screen). To the best of my knowledge, all of my computers when shutting down or restarting, always went to the grey screen. I'm puzzled about this and wondering if this is a sign that my video card might be bad? I now that might sound like a crazy thought... and I hope it is!!!!

Anyone else experience this behavior in restarting or shutting down?

    Thanks!

Don't experience this on my Late 2013 rMBP. It occasionally takes a while for the spinning wheel to stop and the machine to shut down though.

Mine does this since I upgraded to Mavericks.
    I quite like it :)
