Unverified Apple ID

I have a me.com address as my Apple ID. I have not verified this ID, since I'm not using MobileME and thus I don't have this address.
The question is will it be possible to use this Apple ID with iOS 5 and iCloud and to register that e-mail address with soon to be launched iCloud e-mail service?
