September 2025

Apple refreshes the iPhone and Apple Watch lineups each September, and this year we're expecting new iPhone 17 models, an Apple Watch 11, and new versions of the Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Ultra. Apple plans to hold its "Awe Dropping" event on Tuesday, September 9 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time.
  • iPhone 17, iPhone 17 "Air" and iPhone 17 Pro - There won't be an iPhone 17 Plus this year, but Apple is introducing an iPhone 17 "Air," which will be the thinnest iPhone to date at around 6mm. It will be a middle option between the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro, with a super thin 5.5mm chassis, a single-lens rear camera, and a 6.6-inch display. The iPhone 17 will have a dual-lens camera setup and will be Apple's most affordable model, while the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max could get some major changes in camera design with a new horizontal camera bar. Apple is opting for a half-glass half-aluminum casing that will improve durablity All iPhone 17 models are expected to have ProMotion displays and A19 chips, but the Pro models will get faster A19 Pro chips.
  • Apple Watch Series 11 - The 11th generation Apple Watch will get a brighter display, a new chip, and fresh color options. Blood pressure monitoring capabilities are also a possibility.
  • Apple Watch Ultra 3 - The Apple Watch Ultra didn't get a 2024 update, but it will see a refresh in 2025. The new model could feature any new health capabilities that come to the Apple Watch Series 11, such as blood pressure monitoring, and it is also expected to get satellite connectivity for texting when off-grid.
  • Apple Watch SE - Apple didn't refresh the Apple Watch SE in 2024, but an update is planned for 2025. The Apple Watch SE could get a bigger display and it will feature a faster chip.
  • AirPods Pro 3 - The AirPods Pro will get a refresh in 2025, and Apple plans to introduce a new design. Better audio quality is expected, as are improvements to Active Noise Cancellation. There will be a new, faster H3 chip, and health features like body temperature monitoring and heart rate monitoring could be included.

Late 2025

Later in 2025, Apple is expected to introduce the M5 iPad Pro, the AirTag 2, a new Apple TV, and an updated HomePod mini.
  • AirTag 2 - The AirTag 2 that's coming in 2025 could have a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip for improved range, allowing the AirTag to be located from further away.
  • Apple TV 4K - The Apple TV will get a new Apple-designed Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip, along with a faster processor. No design changes are expected. The most recent rumors suggest the Apple TV will come toward the end of the year.
  • HomePod mini - Apple will refresh the HomePod mini in late 2025, adding a faster S-series chip and an Apple-designed Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip. New color options are also likely.
  • iPad Pro - Apple is working on a faster M5 chip that could come to the iPad Pro in late 2025.

Products With Unknown Release Dates

  • Vision Pro 2 - Rumors about the next Vision Pro have been unclear, but Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo thinks Apple is coming to release a next-generatio version of the Vision Pro in 2025. Design changes aren't expected, but Apple will replace the M2 chip with an M5 chip.

Coming in Early 2026

  • Mac Pro - Apple plans to update the Mac Pro sometime in early 2026. It will be equipped with the highest-end version of the M4 chip, which is codenamed "Hidra," and it could be either an "Ultra" or "Extreme" M4 chip. The Mac Pro is also expected to support up to 512GB Unified Memory.
  • M5 MacBook Pro - Apple is working on an M5 MacBook Pro that's expected to launch early in the year. No changes are rumored except for the M5 chip, and it's not a good year to buy because OLED display technology is rumored for 2027.
  • Smart Home Command Center - Rumors suggest Apple is working on a smart home display that would serve as a central hub for controlling smart home products. It will also run Apple apps, and it can be used for FaceTime calls. The Command Center was initially expected in the spring, but with delays to Siri Apple Intelligence features, it could instead come in late 2025 or early 2026.

2025 Updates That Already Happened

WWDC

Apple held the 2025 Worldwide Developers Conference in June. No new products were announced, but Apple introduced iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, visionOS 26, watchOS 26, and tvOS 26.

Apple opted to change its numbering scheme for its software updates to make the different numbers less confusing. All OS updates will be numbered with the year going forward, so the "26" in iOS 26 and macOS Tahoe 26 represents the September 2025 to September 2026 release season.

February and March Releases

In late February, Apple released the iPhone 16e, a $599 iPhone that replaces the iPhone SE 3. It has an A18 chip, a single-lens rear camera, and an all-display design with a 6.1-inch OLED display.

Then in March, Apple refreshed the MacBook Air with M4 chips and the Mac Studio with M4 Max and M3 Ultra chips. There were no design changes, with the focus on performance updates.

Apple also updated the low-cost iPad with an A16 chip and the iPad Air with the M3 chip, again with no design change... Click here to read rest of article

Ok I'll pick two of them:

2019 iPhones:
Might as well brace yourselves for the iPhone XSS

MacPro:
Apple said the AirPower charging mat would come out within the year and it ended up being vaporware. Don't be surprised if the MacPro date slips to 2020.

The Mac Pro already slipped a year. I remember there was an interview with Phil Schiller in the last quarter of 2017 where he said "Apple has never been more committed to it's pro customers" (LOL, OK Phil) and to expect a new Mac Pro in the first half of 2018... well, that never happened.

was hoping for imac updates early 2019, would be really lame to stretch out update to back end

Yep. Better get used to it though. It's been clear for a while now that Tim Cook's Apple doesn't see much value or future in the Mac. Fewer exciting features (in fact, they are taking things away), upgrades further and further apart, all the while giving more attention to their toys and subscription services. What a dull future.

Every year it seems we get "next year for iPhones will be super exciting!!!"

Then at the start of the year it's like "feature X for new iPhones delayed till next year"

Apple released a very minor update last year and sales fell flat, it needs something exciting this year with iPhones, please.

Ha love how you refer to the iPhone as a toy.... it’s rhe most powerful mini computer on the planet

We're in year three with these crappy keyboards and the pointless touch bar. Do we really think Apple's going to continue with these crippled pro notebooks for another year? I'm at a point where I've had to buy an external keyboard and mouse along with a monitor so I don't have to deal with the keyboard when I'm home.

It sure is powerful for its size. And I wouldn't want to do without mine. But its content creation abilities are severely limited. The day an iPhone enables me to do my job, (I make the art in the games you play and the Visual Effects in the movies/TV series you watch) I will stop calling it a toy. It's not really even much of a small tool for me at the moment, beyond its photography abilities. Yet even there it is limited.

Those of you waiting for the unicorn Mac Pro, it's never been easier to build a hackintosh. There are lots of golden build parts lists available. MUCH cheaper, and MUCH faster than just about anything in the current line up, in any form big or small.

Just a couple of nits. Apple announced the 2019 release date for Mac Pro in 2018, not 2017.

Also, though you say “Apple is planning to transition from Intel chips to its own custom-made Mac chips as early as 2020” as if were a fact, but it’s still just a rumor.

Actual professionals, and business/enterprise users, who make their livelihood with Mac Pro rarely steal the software they need to do their jobs. And they can lose more money in a few hours of messing around with a hackintosh than they would ever save. I can understand the attraction though.

2019 iPhones - everyone should pass on this
2019 iMacs/Pro - Many want and wait they shall
2019 iPad Pro - As long as it doesn't bend, it should be a good upgrade
2019 Display - As long as it isnt over priced..who am I kidding, of course it will be

One thing is for certain, the Tim Cook Apple Tax will be in full affect so their shareholders can be happy after that loss in the Chinese market.

Pretty credible rumor from Bloomberg and one we've also heard from multiple sources. I can tweak the wording. Just FYI, everything in here is based on rumor as mentioned up top. Thanks for the feedback and the heads up on the Mac Pro error. :)
