The good ones are not. You can sometimes get nice Chromebooks on sale for great prices, but this will compete with premium Chromebooks. Those are at the low end at least $400 and about $1000 for the higher end ones. Anything lower than those prices comes with significant limitations in quality. Maybe that’s okay for a lot of people, but if this really is $600, that’s a highly competitive price for similar products.

Maybe other school districts spring for the good stuff, but our school system is swimming in $149 HP garbagebooks.

Oh, my school district isn't springing for anything good. It's just that the Chromebooks (IMO) worth buying are in the $500+ range.

That's true for sure. Just saying it doesn't really help them crack the primary and secondary edu market.
