Could it be that the upcoming 17'' unibody MBP will have a slimmer screen bezel?

If i'm not mistaken the bezel around the screen on the 15'' MBP is slimmer than the macbook 13'' one, right?

These are the images from apple.com where they're next to each other. If we can believe the proportions then it looks like the 15'' version has a slimmer bezel.

    What do you think?

If memory serves me, they are equal. I believe the images are misleading, as the MBP is taken at a different distance.

It may be slimmer, allowing them to reduce the size of the overall form factor and hence weight and production costs, but then they wouldnt have room to put all the extra features in which make the 17" special :( like a blu-ray drive, haha which probably wont happen, but would be sexy... bag of hurt, bag of hurt....

lol what's there to mockup? The 17 inch MBP will be an identical design as the 15 inch MBP, but with bigger speakers, and ofcourse 17 inch screen.

Yeah but what about the screen bezel?

Will it be same just because of aesthetics (to keep the same size on all) even if they could've made it slimmer?

It seems to me that the 17'' version might even get wider just to keep the same proportions of the damn bezel.

Well, noone outside Apple really knows. I really hope Apple slashes the awful black bezel and black keyboard. Unfortunately it is not likely they do so.

Just wait for a week, we´ll see then, i guess

15-incher's bezel actually is slightly slimmer, I've compared them side-by-side (my friend's unibody MB and my unibody MBP).

I'd say it would be the same size or thereabouts.

If it was thinner (like notably thinner) then it would change the look of the MacBooks and it wouldn't be a uniform design.

Isn't that exactly the problem of Jony Ive?

He thinks just because it has to be uniform we need a huge friggin bezel around everything.

Even the second-gen iphone-3g got a larger bezel around the screen than the first-gen one.

    @Kilamite

You may have a point there.
That given, there is a slight chance for little surprise. It´s the top of the line product, so i´m curious on the processor, gfx (both at minimum on par with 15" MBP) and, of course, its looks. I admit the design is to be expected conforming to the rest of the line, but who knows, maybe, unlikely but possible, as top of the line it conforms more to the look of the MacBook Air (Alu bezel?).

i personally really love the look of the current mbp's so I am hoping that they keep the same design for the 17 incher.

However someone said that they will probably make it wider, and I must agree with that. If they made the bezel any slimmer, it would look wierd imo

but in a week we will know :D

just hope now they have anti-glare option too but i dont think they will.

They have anti-glare as an option with a silver bezel. I hope in a few years when I upgrade my 15" they'll have it as an option for that model too.

    It's a start :)

Yeah, I wonder if that will come to the current 15", and why it wasn't always there.

Unfortunately the ugly black bezel and the ugly, cheapass black keyboard.

    A little disapointed, i admit
