Is DP3 to DP4 an update or clean install? I think the DP3 file size was not around the 4GB mark DP4 is now? What about the rumours that you can't update DP4 to GM?
That's not a "rumor," you can never upgrade a DP to the GM.

Funny. I've always been able to upgrade to GM from is x betas (one notable exception was the 10.3 beta IIRC)
OS X Mountain Lion Developer Preview 4 is prerelease software. Do not use this prerelease software in a commercial operating environment or with important data. You should back up all of your data before installing this software and regularly back up data while using the software. You will not be able to upgrade from the OS X Mountain Lion Developer Preview to the final release.
I keep getting the "cant be verified" message as well. I booted from an external drive and repaired disk and repaired permissions. I am trying to upgrade from DP2 to DP4. I had the same "cant be verified" message trying to go from DP2>DP3 so I just never bothered. I cant really find anything about this problem online. Anyone....
And they were wrong. It's just what they always say so you don't pirate OS X that way. Also a precaution in case something goes wrong you can't blame them. From the seednotes:
They said the same thing with Lion last year.

Yes, because developers are the only people to have access to preview builds. 🙄That doesn't make any sense. Developers get the final version for free.

So by that logic, only developers will NOT be able to upgrade to final release. 😉The seednotes are meant for the developers.
