The lag seems very intermittent.

Mine is terrible however even minimising and maximising finder shows lag, not impressed at all becoming ever so more tempted to install ML beta instead. I hear this fixes some of the problems.

I am however waiting for a replacement to be sent out to me for an entirely different problem (rattling, creaking inside)

I have a 2.6/8GB Ram RMBP, i haven't witnessed any 'lag'.

Could someone who experiences any lag, really notices it, and has Windows installed via bootcamp, check performance of leggy pages under Windows, please? Do problems persist?

Thanks Corvus32.
Thats what I was looking for.

Now if I go to the store and find that the store display rMBP does not have the update applied, what's the chances I can get them to apply the update while I wait?
Seems like they would want to update their rMBPs with all the official current releases, but some of the Apple Specialists can be quite bureaucratic.
Talk to the manager?

Any experiences with getting AppleStores to run updates while you wait?
or do they have to fill out a ticket, and send it to the tech specialists, who then maybe will apply it overnight, blah, blah, blah? ?

Forgive my cynicism but I've had only lukewarm interactions at the Apple Stores.
Thanks.

Unlikely since the "update" you are talking about is only a developer preview.

Current Public Use Update - Not Developer Preview

This is the official public use update I am asking about.
It is NOT developer preview.

from the Apple Support website posted June 12 (one day after announcement)

About MacBook Pro (Retina) Trackpad Update 1.0
This update addresses an issue where the trackpad may not respond consistently to user input, and is recommended for all MacBook Pro with Retina display notebooks.

The updater will install in the Applications/Utilities folder and will launch automatically. Follow the instructions to complete the process.

Your computer's power cord must be connected and plugged into a working power source when running the update.

On a PC with different browsers(including safari) a core i7 2600K and gtx 680 the framerate in that filckr page is more or less the same as the new macbook pro retina. Stop bashing it:)!

I think it only happens on image laden pages. But my core i7 2600 (non-k) / hd 4000 shows some (very little) delay as well (linux, iceweasel). I wonder what the difference in lag would be compared with rMPB. Also what does scroll have to do cpu / gpu wise, that makes this a slow operation? Some insight into the render process would be helpfull, perhaps with some pictures.

All most all the people who have posted they don't face any lag are running the 2.6Ghz Processor. I know 0.3Ghz shouldn't make much difference while scrolling but does any have a lag free scrolling on a 2.3Ghz Retina model ?

Love the device but wish it was more buttery.

Good to know ml fixes the lag b.c right now on lion the lag makes me want to vomit....it's unusable, at least to me

I see that these lagy retina threads have died off months ago but I still have this lag problem.
How did you solve it? I've googled a lot without finding a solution. I've been talking to mac support for 1.5 hours and they could not help me either.
I installed mountain Lion and applied all updates from App store.

When I have an external monitor connect its okay. But running on the normal lap top display its very lagy. I can't even scroll a text document without choppy scrolling. I read that some say it's overstated but it's really bad on my machine.

download chrome canary bro. solved the issue on my part.

If this helps, I remember when Lion was released, I installed it and everyhting lagged badly, it was a terrible experience between scrolling lags and beach balls everywhere, I think Lion was always crappy, then Apple released a update and things got better, but when Mountain Lion was out everything become smooth again as in Snow Leopard, I think the retina lag will be fixed sooner than later.
