iPhone update from 13.1.3 to 13.6.1 or wait for 14?

New to iPhone, just got a 7plus from a friend, which is still on 13.1.3
Any urgent reason to update to 13.6.1 or better just wait for iOS14?

If you are planning to update to iOS 14 anyway then it doesn't seem like there's much reason to wait and not update to the latest version of iOS 13 that you are already on.

Maybe I should have added: "or not update at all until...?"
I'm not up-to-date on what the securit repercussions are for not having your iPhone on the latest iOS update. For my main Mac, for instance, I'm still on Mojave (10.14.6) as it runs smoothly and still gets security updates.

13.6.1 is a whole lot more stable and reliable than 13.1.x. It's not as if upgrading is a major task, I'd definitely update now, and again when 14 ships.

Good to know 13.6.1 is (more) stable.
I wasn't hesitant because I hate to update, but as a casual user I sometimes prefer to stay with what works, unless I'd miss out on necessary security updates.

If you already in 13.x better to update to the latest 13.x version. Especially ios 13 was known unstable in its early version. If I were you, i will stay in 13.6.1 (or latest 13.x) until I am sure there are mandatory features in ios 14 which force me to update.

Same, I plan staying on iOS 13.6.1 for a long time, and now it is easier than ever to not update your device, just switching the toggle off on the automatic update and the automatic download. I will stay on the last version of iOS 13 on both iPhone and iPad, and will wait until they iron out all the major bugs on iOS 14. Maybe next year I’ll update to 14, which is amazing feature wise, but I’m tired of beta-testing.
