(Update: Now it’s available!)

I’ve updated to iOS 18 and all of the HomePods as well. The option to choose a preferred hub is not available. Other having this issue. Or is this only working when having an Apple TV?

I'm struggling to get this working. The option isn't there. 5 x HomePods, 3 x ATV, Home app isn't showing the menu to toggle the one I want it to be. All devices updated to v18
Seems like it’s not only when it’s HomePod only. Was looking forward to this feature.

!!! Update. Now it’s available to me. After about an hour after updating. It’s working with HomePods only! 😊👍🏻☀️

I have 5 Apple TVs and 4 HomePods. Nothing showing for me after four hour. Went to a spare bedroom, started APPLE TV there, went to HomeKit, scroll to the bottom of the menu and select remove from home then instantly added it back to the same room and the option to select home hub was immediately available on my phone. Hope that helps someone else.

I was full of hope, but no, did not help unfortunately. Thanks anyways.

Just double check Automatic Selection is not toggled on. It was for me by default and nothing is visible then.

Same issue here. All updated. No option to pick a preferred hub nor even an option to turn on automatic selection. Restarted Apple TV and restarted my eero network. No luck.

I read many people waited and did weird stuff like even restarting the router. I assume it either needs more time and/or is a bug and we very soon see a 18.0.1 update…

For me it was just a case of ensuring everything was updated and then I turned everything off ( HomePods / Apple TV’s ) and then turned them back on ( oh I restarted my iPad ). The option then appeared. Good luck

Wasn’t working for me, I restarted all devices 1 by 1 (5 HomePods and 2 ATV’s) and it works for me..set it to Apple TV in lounge. Think that’s best as it’s hard wired

Well the only thing I can think of is my iPad from work, this is on iPadOS 17 because I can‘t update it yet, but I thought that doesn‘t matter because only Apple TVs and HomePods are hubs..

I did restart everything, several times, still nothing. Might contact Apple Support today. My iPhone is buggy as hell too since the RC and there was no new build…

Still not working for me. I just should have stayed away (again) from the beta, even though it was the RC. Had that years back happening after a beta or RC it screwed up everything...

Finally! This has been a real bugbear of mine, HomeKit regularly selected one of my HomePod Minis as the hub, even though it was too far away from my Ring Doorbell to work properly.

I'm so pleased this has been introduced, I can now select the one I want to be the hub.

yall are brave! keeping homekit on 17 for a while.

find all the bugs! thanks :)
