This is the chat I had with the MobileMe support people, they just conclude your problem is not their problem. I'd love to meet this moron in person, probably one of the same guys in the Genius bars

"Hi, my name is John. Welcome to Apple!

SA: Hello John, I have this issue, Mobile Me cannot be accessed with Edge from my iPhone

John: Then you need to talk to iPhone support.

SA: But the iPhone works fine with Gmail, yahoo, AOL, just not Mobile Me, this is a Mobile Me problem

SA: it works fine under wifi, but when I'm on my cell networks EDGE connection, it no longer connects to Mobile Me

John: I understand that, but you are able to access it with wifi, and not edge then you'll need to talk to iPhone support to get the issue resolved.

SA: even though EDGE accesses gmail, yahoo, and AOL with no issue?

John: I don't support the iPhone's edge access.

John: I’m sorry, I can’t help you with that issue. This chat support service is only for issues related to MobileMe Mail. We’d still like to help, so please visit http://www.apple.com/support/mobileme/ww for access to all of our support resources, including chat support for all other MobileMe topics.

John: Thank you for chatting with MobileMe Support. Please close this window to end the chat.

Thank you for chatting with us. Please click the blue "Close" button on the top left of the chat window to tell us how we did today."

It looks as if you were chatting to a sales associate about mobile me... not the support line.. true?

Looks like he had the right thing.

This sort of thing isn't that uncommon unfortunately. Try going to iPhone's support, and if they bounce you back to Mobile Me support (which is highly likely) ring them. If they try the same thing on the phone, go along with it for a while, and if they keep doing it, ask to speak to a supervisor.

    Good luck.

In all of their infinite wisdom, Apple decided that they would only have online support for MobileMe:confused::mad:. I really hope that the issues with MobileMe get fixed. I can't even drop MobileMe:( (I just finished getting everyone to use my .mac address).

Seems to be an iPhone issue, not a MobileMe issue. The Apple tech was correct, and you, incorrect.

Does it work on your Mac? Check
Does it work over WiFi? Check
Does it work over 3G? Check
Does it work over Edge? Nope

What is option 4 linked to? iPhone, what support should you talk to then? iPhone.

This is a widely reported issue with MobileMe and it's affecting a lot of people internationally.

It's unlikely that the so-perfect MobileMe is not to blame (which as expected has now been confirmed by Apple).

Using your logic, if MobileMe didn't work on your Mac you should take the entire computer to the Apple store!

If its working on everything else BUT my Mac (as in the OP's case) Yes I will!
Or I'd go to my ISP!

you do understand that gmail, yahoo, and AOL mail work on my iPhone over EDGE. This is why it is a mobile me issue. Thanks for the 60 Minutes style report.

You may not realize how computers communicate on the Internet. Just because yahoo et al work on your phone using EDGE and mobileme doesn't work does not absolutely mean the problem is with mobileme. The cell towers or NOC/Central Office used by the cell towers may have routing problems or DNS problems (or some other problem). I don't see any logic in blaming mobileme when the ONLY time it fails is using the cellular connection.

I'd be looking at ATT, not that they will actually listen and investigate.

They wont listen because Apple has admitted it's an issue with MobileMe.

Link? The only thing I could find was a statement regarding a bug in OTA calendar and contact syncing to iPhones/iPod touches, whereas the OP was referring to accessing his mail.

The Mac or the ISP would be the problem most likely. If the product works with A/B/C/D but fails to work with E, you would think that object E would be the problem.

You really did make yourself sound not too bright here, you're saying that if my Yahoo mails, clearly Google mail must work? You do know they are separate companies right? The uncommon aspect of MobileMe not working on your iPhone, but working everywhere else is your iPhone, which would lead one to believe to talk to iPhone support.

Also, for those that said Apple admitted this was an iPhone problem, if you show me a link I'll shut up.

Try using your logic both ways

If the product (iPhone) works with A(Gmail)/B(Yahoo)/C(AOL) but fails to work with D(MobileMe). Then you would see why I would assume it's MobileMe. Not only that, "D" was working fine for the last year while it was still .Mac. The new variable in all of this is the MobileMe transition. You really are the bright one here.

regardless of whether or not you were talking to the right person, their chat support is a complete waste of time. I wasted two days on there until I got someone on the telephone who then forwarded my problem to an email contact at MobileMe Support.

Apple support are seriously under pressure with MobileMe and iP3G/App Store all launching at the same time, they had little choice but to insist on email only support for MobileMe. They reeeally shouldn't have taken on both so close to each other.

Ok, it's been working fine lately!

I believe it started working fine after Mobile Me went down 2 days ago for maintenance, so it CLEARLY is MobileMe's fault.

I don't care, as long as it's working fine now. :D

Where may I ask do you find email support for MobileMe? The only support that they have in the US is chat (which is rarely available), there isn't even a feedback link for MobileMe, and now I understand they even took down the UK email support. Even email would be better than nothing.
