This stupid thing keeps trying to get on the internet through the cell system and not my wifi.

My wifi was working PERFECTLY on it until I upgraded from 2.2.0
Now every time I try to do anything on it at all, I can hear it trying to get data on the cell, it makes my pc speakers buzz real loud like when you dial and make a phone call. It makes no attempt to use my wifi anymore.

I have entered the wifi network data PROPERLY into it's settings.
There is no option to turn off edge or 3g.
I do not have ATT or data, I unlocked and jailbroke it to work on Centennial.

I even pulled the sim card from it to try to force it to use the wifi and it still says there is no internet connection. I can do nothing at all with this.

Yes, I have rebooted it, yes, I have reset network connections. Many times.

    I upgraded with redsn0w 0.8 and the 3.0.0 software.

Please help? I use the wifi a LOT in my home on it. Now it's just a crappy cell phone. I might as well downgrade it back to 2.2

    Thanks!

Ok, no one can tell me how to fix my wifi, can someone PLEASE tell me how to downgrade it back to 2.2.1 ????

    PLEASE????????????

I tried to restore the 2.2.1 IPSW but itunes 9 won't let me.

I tried to uninstall and then re-install itunes 8.1 and 8.2 but they will NOT run.
It seems they prevent you from downgrading, ever.

I'm in trouble here. My phone is unusable now.. It's stuck with a USB cable picture on it. Itunes will not run anymore. WTF can I do????????????

    PLEASE HELP!!!! ???????????? :confused::confused::confused:

OK, so...you upgraded to 3.0.1 and used the 3.0 with redsn0w. Am i right so far? Because that would be correct.

However, if you used redsn0w 0.8, i would think that is your problem since i think that is supposed to be for the 3GS.

Try it again using redsn0w 0.7.2,... and you know sometimes the jailbreak just doesnt take the first time. Try it again and use 0.7.2 and let us know how that worked.

One time it took me 4 tries before it went thru correctly and another time it worked the first time.

I'd suggets you try the following steps first of all:

    1. Put the phone into DFU mode and do a clean restore to 3.0.1 through iTunes, use the shift key with Restore so that you can choose the correct 2G 3.0.1 ipsw file. It's here if you don't have it: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=750

This is a good tutorial on getting into DFU mode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofpinyGlQ8I

    2. See if you can borrow an AT&T sim to see if your wifi works now.

    3. Run RedSn0w again, and point it to the 3.0.0 ipsw file, which you get in the same place.

    4. Again, see if your wifi works

Let us know how you get on.

To be clear, you did a DFU restore and set it up as a new iPhone?

Did you have the overheating problem before you jailbroke?

Yes, I set it up as a new phone, it was wiped totally clean and would not come up.
It forced me to plug it into itunes to restore it and then it said my sim was invalid and it would only let me use it as an emergency phone only.

No, it never had heat problems before, at all.

OK, if you haven't got an AT&T sim available, try running RedSn0w again now, make sure you point it to the 3.0.0 ipsw, to jailbreak and unlock. Pop your Centennial sim in and see what gives.
