I updated my AW8 yesterday and now the battery life on it is awful. I took it off the charger an hour ago and it's already dropped to 90%. I have done nothing with it and only gotten one notification in that time. I only have two widgets on the stack and I have installed nothing new in a long time. This watch worked fine before the update and I used to have around 60% battery life at the end of the day. At this rate, I will be at 60% before noon. I have AOD and raise to wake turned off.

My phone is on 18 and my watch is on 11. I have restarted both devices a couple of times. I avoided all of the battery grief with iOS 17 and WatchOS 10. Can anyone suggest anything I can do to fix this?

I’ve upgrade my S6 and S9 watches to WatchOS 11 and my battery life has been terrible since upgrading. I had similar battery problems on my S9 a couple of months ago and I took it to an Apple Store and they suggested to reset the watch and start it off as new and it fixed the problem at the time. I’m planning on trying this trick again soon.

My AW8 battery health was 94% on Monday and it’s 92% today. But it does seem to be behaving better now. I’ve made no changes to it.

AW9 here - WOS11 was draining my battery something chronic but 11.1 seems to have been a lot better.

Has dropped to 98% after 12 months of ownership now since the update but haven’t seen any further degradation.

My wife’s AW8 battery is losing like 10-12 percent every hour. Worst it’s ever been. Mine seems worse than previous but nowhere near as bad as hers.

Same issue here. S8 updated to 11.0 and battery is insanely bad all of a sudden. Been wearing it for 7 hours today and I’m down to 3%. I thought it might have been from my new phone (16 Pro) but it sounds like you guys are having the same problem on previous phones too.

Sorry for omitting Watch OS 11.1 is still in Beta - it is definitely better on my Series 9 compared to Watch OS 11.

Hopefully once it’s out for general release it has a better impact for yourselves too 🙂

It’s been 4 days now. My bat life remains at 89% and battery usage has slightly improved over the prior day according to the bar graph in battery settings. Today I performed a hard restart of my watch (this was the 2nd time).

Last night I unpaired/repaired my watch and today it seems back to normal. Instead of being down to 3% after 7 hours, I’m at 76% after 7 hours. Much better!

thanks. I've been hoping to not go that direction so it's good to know this is produce such good results.

It’s pretty painless. Just unpaired and paired again. When unpairing, it automatically makes a backup. So then when pairing, you just select that backup. The only annoying thing was having to dig out my credit cards for the security codes when they were being automatically re-added to the Wallet.

The whole thing probably took like 10 minutes or so.
