iPod touch Updated ipod - new passcode lock glitch ??

I just updated my ipod touch with the 2.2 update. When I finished the update and went to use my ipod again, it required a passcode. After failing several times it disabled for a minute and then 5 minutes and 15. I never set a password and it never gave me a default password. I need to get back in without restoring my whole ipod - how can I do so?

You are going to need to restore on the computer you first synched the iPod with.
