The Mac Pro has been updated today and can now be configured to 8 Core 3.2GHz. Does this mean there won't be a new Mac Pro at MacWorld? Probably!

I would have thought it was at least a fair chunk of the content in the Keynote... now im clueless

Im thinking.. if they released that now what is Steve gonna revival?
Im speechless at the new specs though.. my word.

They will probably just put all the emphasis into that "ultra portable" MB

Well that would be great :D I just got the new iMac though should be here tomorrow, im quite glad they didnt update that, I would feel quite bad if they updated it the day I got it!

This isn't a consumer show item ... it has sort of been the bastard child released quietly weeks after MacWorld or at the developers conference.

With the announcement today, it'll likely get a few Keynote slides.

But with the new chipset, this at least is a big update and not the simple speed bump/feature mod that Apple has been doing mid stream.

Edit: of course we still get people looking at the specs and saying, is that all ... when are they really going to update it.

There always will be, personally I am really happy with the new specs... REALLY happy! :D

I'm not sure what to think. My insurance company are replacing my powerbook with a macbook pro. Would be nice if it got updated before they order it :)

Infact I like them so much I may actually save up for a :apple: Mac Pro
Iv always wanted to own one :D

Quadro 5600... 32GB :D /me day dreams

I wasn't saying 'is this all'. I was purely pointing out the fact that it has been updated today although it was a big rumoured update at MacWorld, so if this isn't the main event, I wonder what will be

BAH looks like the store is currently been flooded in the uk, it wont load up

Best mid-line graphics Card?!?

After eons of what seems to be akin to watching paint dry, I have been eagerly waiting for the arrival of this new Mac Pro release like many others. Now, it is finally time to upgrade from my powerbook G4, and get up and running like the rest of the world.
So I am wondering...
Of the new graphics cards that the Mac Pro has finally offered, what is the best way to go besides the Quadro card. I am a filmmaker, so I use all of Apple's Pro Video Apps. (yes, I have been doing all my editing thus with Final Cut and Motion thus far on my trusty 'ol powerbook!) I plan on getting a HD Capture viewer card, like the AJA Kona, but what card would you recommend for my initial set up?
Is the 8800GT the best card to get? Or would you go for the multiple Radeon card Setup? What exactly is the difference between the two?

finally got on to the UK store and its real nice to see all those configurable items!
Another plus point is that you can "downgrade" to 1 2.8ghz chip and then have a mac pro for good money.
I am going to wait until Macexpo before I decide whether to get a pro now or a new minimacbook?

Cineapple, I would say the 8800GT would be great, the ATI card isn't really worth getting over the 8800GT its far superior!

When will you be purchasing the new Mac Pro? Part of me wants you to buy it, but part of me wants you to start a new rant about Mac Pro 3.0 and how you now have to wait even longer.

3-5 week wait on the 8800GT, so I guess in 3-5 weeks we'll see.
