Update!!

Hey everybody,

So theres been a huge change of plan, turns out I may be looking to buy a MacBook Pro. Im actually going to be travelling alot now, due to family reasons and school, so the Mac Pro isn't really ideal anymore, although I would have loved to have that beast of a machine!

The MacBook Pro is still a fully capable machine and depending on how things turn out in the coming months, I may purchase a Mac Pro in around a year's time.

The specs im going for are:

-17" High resolution matte display
-2.5Ghz Processor
-4GB RAM (3rd party, probably crucial, im open to other suggestions)
-200GB 7200 RPM HD (Im going to purchase an external HD and connect with FW800, again any suggestions as to the best external HD to purchase, thanks:D)

If anybody has any other suggestions, please post a reply, thanks!

This is the complete opposite of what I was expecting, but im really looking forward to a new MacBook Pro!

Thanks everybody for all your suggestions they completely helped me, I fully appreciate it.

If I do go with the MacBook Pro, I want it to last more than a year without slowing down or showing its age if you know what I mean. My HP feels like cr*p after a year!. Final question really is, truthfully, in the long run what would last longer and have more potential? A MacBook Pro or a quad core Mac Pro?

1.5ghz turion must have been pretty lowend at that times I guess.
My MBP 2.2GHz Core2Duo is 1 year next week and it's still running great!

I've bumped the HD to 320GB and getting 4GB next week, so I guess it will last me for quite awhile longer :)
