    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone else was noticing this after upgrading to 10.8.3.

I've noticed that "kernel_task" doubled in size to approximately 950 MB of Real Mem. This is the amount of memory it allocates on a fresh restart with no applications open.

Amazing, since prior to the update I've never seen it go past 600 MB. kernel_task would always be somewhere in the neighborhood of 400-600 MB.

I have an 2012 11" MBA with 8GB memory upgrade. So it's not a huge deal breaker for me. But it does seem odd that 950 MB seems to be the default allocation.

There are times where I run quite a few apps and I need every bit of free memory available. Knowing that system resources alone are taking approximately 1.3 GB of memory (kernel_task + other resources) is a bit disappointing.

    Thanks for your insights!
