So I updated my iPhone software to 2.2 without remembering to take everything out of the folders I had created in Categories in my hacked iPhone. I found every piece of software in a folder has disappeared. I used QuickPwn to hack it again and install cydia so I can reinstall Categories, the problem is Cydia was in a category, so I can't get to it either... How can I fix this?

    Thanks!

How do I do that while keeping the same phone #? When I restore it asks me to set it up as that phone # and automatically copies everything from the last backup of the phone...

Wouldn't you like restore in DFU mode to get that option?

No, just click on Restore when you plugged into iTunes, and then it'll restore, when it asks you, click on Set up as New Phone, enter your current phone number and whatever else it asks you. and you're done.

I ran into this problem and here's what I did. Before restoring my backup to the iPhone, I connected it to wifi and downloaded Categories from Cydia. I used it to set up at least the folder that previously contained Categories and Cydia and BossPrefs for me. Then I restored my backup, and these apps were again available in my folder which I called Utilities. Then from there, I used BosPrefs and Categories to restore everything and set it back up.

I did the same thing (stupidly) after a search I found this quote:
"To get all apps "unhidden" from categories:

If Cydia and installer are not showing up try going to Settings/General/Restrictions once there enable restrictions and enter passcode. Hit the home button. go back to Settings/General/Restrictions and disable restrictions."

    Worked for me.

Restore as a new phone, and then restore from backup, by right clicking on it's icon in iTunes.

Rejailbreak, and learn a lesson from this on what not to do next time. ;)
