that's it?

I'm afraid so.

12" still has a meh screen. so much for better vid cards and faster cpu's and stuff.

So the 12" pb still remains pretty darn close the 12" iBook.

hmmph

Is there gonna be a video of this?

I'm having to read updates from engadget! OH MAN! I can't wait to go play with the QUADRUPLE THIRTY-INCH SCREEN SETUP!

I'm getting really worked up.. for about a half hour, the only thing on MR I could look at was (see attachment)

Oh well, it was a pic of "Too many people on the server"

..and I can't attach it-- I keep getting THAT error message! :p

Eee! I'm so at the apple store this weekend!

- PowerMac G5s updated
- Dual core processors, up to 16GB of DDR2 RAM, 1TB of internal storage, PCI Express
- Four new nVidia cards, including the Quadro FX 4500 - all four cards support 30" cinema display - PowerMac G5 Quad, with dual dual-core processors
- Single dual-core 2.0 GHz CPU version is $1,999; single dual core 2.3Ghz is $2,499; dual CPU dual-core is $3,299

But what is the speed of the dual dual?!

H.264 Playback Any Better?

Is it true that the video cards aren't upgraded in the new PowerBooks? How is that possible if they now support the 30" ACD natively? If I can get a 15" or 17" with 256 MB X800 (mobile) graphics I would seriously consider it, even though I'd like a new generation of CPU.

One thing I want to know, however, is how these new machines will handle HD (H.264) playback. This will choke the current PowerBooks, and since I'm assuming it's still a G4 at the same or similar speed (and main bus speed), will it be able to handle it any better? Do the newer mobile graphics cards have hardware-accelerated H.264 decoding built-in that could help with this?

that's a very good question. i want to know the answer as well

What, Apple release updated computers and software?!!! I thought Apple were an iPod company, not computer.... ( joking )

Joking aside, that Quad Mac is seriously excellent. Shame the same thing can't be said about the PowerBooks. Looking forward to Intel processors...

So us 12" PB users get screwed again...
These updates are targeted toward the Pro user ... photo retouchers, etc. (in conjunction with PhotoExpo), and most Pro users in this area, such as myself, would rarely consider a 12 PB for such things. They are nice for mobility, but not as practical as the 15" and 17". JMO
