    Hi New to forum .
    couple of dumb questions::rolleyes:

    Just got a used 1st Generation itouch for my granddaughter.
    afraid I don't know anything about it.
    Can anyone link me to a user manual please?
    Also how do I go about updating?
    Any reply's& advice gratefully accepted.

    to update, when you connect it to iTunes the page that comes up there should be a box saying update you just click it and follow the onscreen instructions and then wait till it finishes.

    Yep, plug the iPod into your computer.

    iTunes should automatically pop up.

    If it doesn't, just open iTunes and select the iPod on the left hand side bar.

    It should show a generic picture of the iPod and some general information about it.

    3.1.2 is the latest firmware. If your iPod doesn't have this, then click on "Check for update".

    You may have to pay for the latest operating system, but you will be prompted first, and it's worth getting it.
