Updating a JB phone

Hi everyone...looking for some help please...I have a JB Iphone4....I want to update the OS but iTunes won't let me...can someone help me...I appreciate it...thanks...I apologize if there is a forum...but I couldn't find it....I'm on 4.2...thanks for you help

Whats the error message? I think its because your hosts file on your mac/pc is restricting Apple from verifying the update.

Yes...I think you are correct...says the phone is not eligible for the update...tried the DFU mode and same result

You probably have to remove this line in the host file: 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
