Hello Collective Wisdom,
I am happily using Excel 2008 on an iMac running Mojave (OS 10.14.6)
My partner uses a newer version of Excel, and we need to share files back and forth (e.g. by email).
When she sends me an .xlsx file I can open it, but some of the formatting gets screwed up.
Bottom line, I need to update to the most recent version of Excel which Mojave can handle.
My question: what version is that, and how do I go about getting it?
TIA for all help!!
Ch.S.

Office 2011 works fine on Mojave.

What version of Office is your friend using?

Here's a shot of the options available in "save as" (2011 version):

What if your friend chose "save as" and then saved the file (to be shared with you) in "excel 97-2004 Workbook (.xls)" format?

I realize this is "an extra step" -- but what works, works.

She has absolutely latest version, because she uses it also for work. Her list of "save as" options is simlar to yours, except it shows Excel 97-2003. But that's 20 years ago! We're figuring out other ways...

Many thanks for several helpful replies. What we've settled on is sharing the file via DropBox and using DB's "Excel for the web" to edit.
