updating from 6.0 to 6.1.3

I have never updated my iPhone 5 software yet. Is it safe to directly upgrade to 6.1.3 from 6.0 OTA with no problems. Someone told me that the photos will not show up after updating. My iPhone 5 is not jailbroken btw.

As with every firmware change, you should back up your content to iTunes/iCloud before updating

Dhlizard is right. Whenever you do an update for any device you would want to make a backup because anything could go wrong. If you backup your iPhone you'll still have your photos.

take a backup using a backup manager app, and then try to update the OS, if you are not an expert at this you can ask your friend to do it for you.
