Hi all,

I'm thinking of getting the new 1Ghz iMac, or a PowerMac...

What I need to know is, how easy is it to upgrade memory in the iMac? it comes with 256mb built-in, but Apple's own pricing is stupid to get to 512mb built-in (and the 1gig option is frightening!)...is it possible to change the memory in both slots in an iMac?

Changing the memory in the internal slot is in theory possible. However, it probably voids the warranty. You also have to be very careful. And if you need to have you Mac repaired under warranty, you need to put the Apple memory back in.

I suggest going ahead and getting the 512MB/1 stick option. And then get the other memory from someplace less expensive.
