I was going to try update my iPad to 4.2, and jailbreak ( I'm currently running 3.2 and jailbroken )
However, I'm struggling to update to 4.2 ( Apple keeps asking to verify, and then says it's timed out or the build is not eligible for my iPad )
Can anyone help at all??
Jack

Apple stopped signing the 4.2.1 firmware on March 12th, so this would be why it isn't able to be verified at this time.

Did you have Cydia store the SHSH blobs for the 4.2.X version? Apple verifies the "valid" firmware at the time you try to perform an update or restore. If you have them stored you will need to use Saurik's server in your HOSTS file to override Apple's servers to perform the verification:

http://www.saurik.com/id/12

So, open the file C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts (Windows) or /etc/hosts (Mac OS X) and add the following entry to the bottom of the file.

74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

If you used firmware umbrella to back up the SHSH blobs, you will need to setup the server to perform the verification and point gs.apple.com to 127.0.0.1. The firmware umbrella documentation should explain. If you backed up the SHSH blobs using other means you can still use firmware umbrella if you can load the blobs in the server.
