Updating iPhone 3G to 4.2.1?

Hello, I currently have an iPhone 3G version 4.0. My baseband is 05.13.04.

I want to update my phone to the latest firmware 4.2.1 without updating the baseband. How can I do this? If I update through iTunes, will my baseband change?
