Hi guys,
for some reason I cant update OSX.1.
It says my installer must be updated. So I tried to install a installupdater but it won't let me install it. The harddisc stays gray when I want to select one
Any suggestions?

What version of X are you trying to upgrade to?

Are you on 10.1.0?

I'm trying to upgrade from 10.0 to 10.1. The volumes I can choose are there but they are grey. The same thing when I try to update the installer.

I think you MIGHT both just have the problem that your machines are not upgraded far enough. Best thing to do might be to just open up your Software Update and go wild.

I remember back in 10.0 esp. there was a slight problem with Software Update and it would regularly not show the next updates.

Remember that when you get the installer update for Software Update you then have to close off the system preferences and reopen them and check for updates again. There are WAY more updates after you do the installer.

Forget about stuff like Airport at first, just do the system and security updates. If it still does not work, do the other updates and see if there is another installer update that it has been holding back on.

Sorry, this is my best advise for the moment.

It took me a month and a half to figure this out. timallen is on the right track, but to clear the air:

Download the earliest version of Security Update to 10.1 from the Apple website, or from the Software Update control panel. Install.

Download the program Installer Update 1.0. Install.

Download the Mac OS X 10.1.5 Combo Update, to save time. Install and restart your computer.
