Updating unactivated verizon iphone4

Back in march 2011 i got an iPhone 4 from verizon. I used it as a phone until last week. I swapped the phone off my account and reverted to an older samsung phone i had. I am using the iPhone4 on WIFI as an glorified iPod at this time (iOS 5 latest). question: When iOS 6 rolls out can i still do OTA updates or will it get stuck on some "need to activate screen". ?
