What do you mean? There is no such thing as Snow Leopard on an iPad 1.

Go to settings, general, about. If the version is 5.1.1, it is upgraded as high as possible. But if it shows a different version, you can upgrade it by going to settings, general, software update, and you can upgrade from there.
