I would just like to know if it is possible to upgrade a Nvidia 8800GT graphic card for Mac Pro early 2008 (Model Identifier: 1.1) to work with a newer Mac Pro (Model Identifier: 3.1).

Thanks for your answers!

It's been a while but I don't think the flash has enough room for the 64 bit version.

I made a stupid mistake and bought the wrong 8800GT card for my Mac Pro 3.1. I installed the card today and the system doesn't recognize it. Later I found out it's the version for Mac Pro 1.1 (EFI32).

I could put it in a Mac Pro 1.1 from my friend and flash it, if someone would assure me that this work.

as has already been stated, i don't believe the ROM chip is spacious enough to fit the 64 bit EFI ROM. Don't do anything until someone can confirm though

Should be able to look at the flash chip and look it up online. Can be pretty small print.

I just checked and both my 8800gt 32-bit and 64-bit are 128K as stated. Some cheap pc 8800gt cards had 64k rom.
